In a life-threatening emergency such as sudden severe chest pain, severe breathlessness, loss of power in a limb, loss of consciousness or severe bleeding dial 999.

The health centre is equipped to treat minor injuries like small cuts and joint sprains. If the injury is more severe or may involve a broken bone then you should attend the local minor injuries unit at Queen's Hospital, Burton Upon Trent.

Also in the event of poisoning or overdose the attend the local A+E

If you have an urgent problem during surgery hours call the health centre on 01283 227870. The receptionist will need to take some details about the problem and arrangements will be made for you to be seen by the doctor as soon as possible.

All calls are answered by trained call handlers who can either dispatch an ambulance immediately if needed, give advice, make an appointment at either Swadlincote Clinic or Duffield Road Clinic in Derby (depending on the time - see opening hours below) or redirect you to other services as necessary.

Patients are seen at Swadlincote Clinic, Civic Way, Swadlincote, DE11 0AE [Location Map], from 6.30pm until 10.30pm on weekdays and 9.00am until 10.30pm at weekends and on bank holidays.

Between 10.30pm and 8am week days and between 10.30pm and 9.00am at weekends and on Bank Holidays, patients are seen (by appointment only) at the DHU base located at 105-105a Duffield Road, Derby, DE22 1AE [Location Map]

Services:

Swadlincote Health Centre offers a walk-in service with no appointment necessary.  Home visits can also be arranged if necessary. DHU do not offer nursing services (such as dressings or suture removal), take X-rays or make routine referrals to hospital. They can arrange urgent hospital admission if required.

An Emergency Drop-In Clinic operates at Swadlincote Heath Centre.
